While recently vacationing in Rocky Point Mexico we encountered a man who claimed to be an Italian-born, Harvard trained physician. To quote him: " I'm the #1 or 2 Cardio-Thoracic surgeon at Arizona Heart Hosp, depending on whom you ask." His overall demeanor, which we witnessed as a heavily drinking, loud, obnoxious, attention seeker earlier that day & the deliberate overselling of himself as an accomplished heart surgeon, just did not fit with our experience as members of the Phoenix, AZ medical community. Curiously, we looked into him online & discovered that he does NOT have an active nor inactive (prior) AZ or MA Medical license, nor is he a CT surgeon at AZ Heart Hosp. in Phoenix, AZ. Apparently, he is impersonating & passing himself off as an esteemed surgeon for some unknown reason. The staff at the AZ Medical Board & AZ Heart Hosp were quite interested in his charade & will be investigating him & his false claims. This post is to be considered a warning to others out there to be aware of con men, such as him, and to always check the credentials of self-proclaimed medical professionals!
