Michael Jones

This man contacted me through match.com using the name Michael Jones (he's been reported previously on this site under a different name). He said he was a mechanical engineer who started his own company doing industrial machines for international companies. Said he's from New Zealand, moved to Fresno CA ~2 yrs ago and Hartford, CT 4 months ago. Wife died 2 yrs ago from breast cancer . His children's names are Karen 5 yr old and Paul 3 yr old. He was all alone, parents died in a car accident 10 yrs ago, he was an only child, no other family. He said he was in Benin for 10 days, had to hire 100 workers before his shipment arrived, had only hired 60. Professed to love me - had even asked me to marry him, said that he had not fallen this hard for someone before. He wrote very romantic emails & IM's (yahoo)! He said that he would NEVER do anything to hurt me, and he respected me and would always honor me and tell me the truth. Incredibly believeable.

He wrote several times text that I googled and was listed under several Nigerian scammer sites. When I confronted with about the romantic text, job, and location he said he couldn't see me if I didn't trust him. How could I not trust him? Claimed in the beginning that his computer he had with him didn't have a webcam. Also never wanted to stay on the phone long or do voice chat.

Some of his emails would be so articulate (the copied text from elsewhere) but his IM's were somewhat broken English. Started with Am instead of I am or I'm. I started having some doubts about him and googled Nigerian scammers. This is how I busted him. Thankfully I ended it before the monetary requests started coming in! Watch out for him!
