Melissa Cintron

Dating scam

Phoenix,, Arizona

Individual meets you on dating site and shows interest. Actually establishes contextual messages to get you thinking a real relationship is feasible, but is never able to meet. Father dies and she inherits the family business. Can't meet due to business trip to Malaysia...Blah Blah Blah. Money tied up and needs you to wire money. Really? Being cynical, I Googled her name--in whole and in part--because what Mom said still holds: "If it looks/sounds too good to be true, it probably is." Sure enough, I found an article from someone else scammed by a "Melissa Cintron". Same name, same M.O. Wow. Didn't even have the decency to change the name for the scam. Fortunately, I didn't lose any money--just time lost and a little hurt pride for hoping it was real. No Manti Teo here, though!

She's apparently in Malaysia again as I write this. I guess "her" father died...again?? We have been corresponding every day for a week now, but unknown to "her" I had already done a search to see what was up. I actually was starting to believe there was truth to this, because "she" sent me an itinerary/confirmation for a flight on KLM for next week back to Chicago & when I checked the reservation it IS a confirmed ticket according to KLM.

Other than the websites the scam is posted on when I asked about "her" late night flight out of Chicago last week I asked which airport "she" flew from, giving 3 choices & her answer was Midway, which has NO late night flights AND no direct flights to Europe, where the connection was...and how "she" claimed she got to Malaysia.

He/she/they are quite clever, but I would do a little more homework on geographical facts of I was them. "She" was very near Kuala Lumpur & had no clue as to what/where Petronas Towers were, which I requested a picture of her near, and which can likely be seen from 40-50 miles away, since it's 2 of the tallest buildings on the planet.
